Mentor allows for temporary, minor variations in speed that are primarily caused by changes in road conditions, or the need for a short increase in speed, such as to safely pass a car or avoid a dangerous situation. A speeding event is recorded when the driver’s speed exceeds the posted speed limit beyond the allowed tolerance.
Speed limits represent the maximum safe speed when driving in ideal conditions: during daylight hours and on dry, even pavement. When driving in non-ideal conditions, such as at night, in rain, snow or heavy winds, or in pedestrian-populated areas, reduce your speed below the posted limits so you can safely respond to changes around you.
